Illustration of Studify: React, Node.js, PHP and MySQL powering online tests, fee management, test cards and dynamic reports.

Overview

Studify is an online education platform that runs online tests, manages fees and generates test cards, with dynamic charts and reporting throughout. It is built with React, Node.js, PHP and MySQL. The live site at studify.pk currently presents it as an MDCAT preparation hub, with province-wise test sessions for students across Pakistan.

The challenge

Test-prep providers have to register many students, collect fees, schedule and run tests, issue test cards and show results, often at entry-test season scale. Doing this by hand or over WhatsApp alone doesn't scale and leaves students without clear progress data.

The solution

I built a platform with an online test system, online fee management and test card generation, plus a chart-heavy interface for reporting across the whole platform. A React front-end sits on a Node.js and PHP back-end with MySQL storage.

Key features

  • Online test system

    Students take tests online.

  • Online fee management

Fees are tracked and managed inside the platform.

  • Test cards

Test cards are generated for students.

  • Dynamic charts

A complex interface with charts for performance and operations.

  • Platform-wide reporting

Reports across students, tests and fees.

How it fits together

Tech stack and why

React
Handles the interactive test-taking UI and chart-heavy dashboards.
Node.js
Fits real-time-ish workloads such as test sessions.
PHP
Web APIs for core platform operations.
MySQL
Relational storage suits students, tests, results and fee records.

Architecture

  1. React SPA consuming a Node.js and PHP API layer.
  2. Relational data model linking students, tests, results and fees.
  3. Reporting layer feeding dynamic charts.

Process

  1. Mapped the student journey

Register, pay, take a test, see results.

  2. Designed the test and reporting interfaces.

  3. Built the React front-end and Node.js/PHP APIs on MySQL.

  4. Launched and supported the platform.

Outcomes

  • Registration, fees, tests and results run on one platform instead of manual processes.
  • Students and administrators get clear, chart-based reporting.
